Why Cold Tonnage?
"... the dragon Griaule, a vast mile-long beast who had been struck immobile yet not lifeless by a wizard's spell, and who ruled over the Carbonales Valley, controlling in every detail the lives of the inhabitants, making known his will by the ineffable radiations emanating from the cold tonnage of his brain." Lucius Shepard, from "The Scalehunter's Beautiful Daughter", 1988
KEN COWLEY'S WEIRD TALES
Ken Cowley was a long-time member of the BFS (British Fantasy Society), an author (he had a few weird stories published in the small-press magazines over the years, and indeed had a short story collection - MISCELLANY MACABRE - published by the BFS in 1999), big-time collector of sf and fantasy, and in his latter years (he died in 2012 at the age of 84) a bookseller (like me, he was keen on importing books from several of the US small press publishers such as Ash Tree Press and NESFA, among others). But his pride and joy was always his Weird Tales collection, almost complete, missing just a few of the very earliest issues. On behalf of Ken's family, and with the invaluable help of Alistair Durie, I am selling his WEIRD TALES collection (many already sold, this is what I have left). Please click HERE to see a list of his WEIRD TALES for sale (1925-1954).
