''one of the last, and best, examples of the television Space Opera. Premiering only a few years before the genre television landscape began a drastic pendulum swing towards Earth-set, mimetic-looking SF (''V''), magical realism (Lost), and grim political allegory (Battlestar Galactica), Farscape starts off from an inauspicious, perhaps even cheesy, premise. Astronaut John Crichton is transported through a Wormhole to a distant region of space and ends up aboard Moya, a living Spaceship making a break for freedom from her masters, the fascistic, xenophobic Peacekeepers. He falls in with the prisoners who were being held aboard, who make up what is essentially a Dungeons & Dragons coterie - a warrior, Ka D'argo, a mage/healer, Pa'u Zotoh Zhaan, and a trader, Dominar Rygel XVI, deposed ruler of the Hynerian empire..'' ''from a very early age (the author's) experiences as a natural medium have been many and varied: through transference, apports and, above all, an awareness of the presence of spirits. The ghosts have shown themselves to possess different personalities and have appeared for various reasons - to warn, to predict, to play mischievous pranks, to counsel. In addition to accounts of the author's personal spiritual expe iences, included are several fascinating chapters on such subjects as palmistry, astrology and numerology, and on how this lore can be used by each individual for self-analysis''.

''(1939-2006) UK sf and film critic, anthologist, teacher, and director of a film library. In 1969 he initiated one of the first adult evening classes in sf in the UK, sponsored by the University of London at the City Literary Institute (see SF in the Classroom), which continued until 1992 under various tutors including John Clute, Colin Greenland, Peter Nicholls, Christopher Priest, Brian Stableford and Lisa Tuttle. Strick's SCIENCE FICTION MOVIES (1976) is a witty, rather helter-skelter account of sf Cinema, one of the best early books on the subject (despite its lack of a filmography). His film criticism continued to appear in Monthly Film Bulletin, later incorporated into Sight and Sound; The BFI Companion to Science Fiction (2001) made some use of this material. Antigrav (anth 1975) edited by Strick assembles funny sf short fiction, including John Brosnan's first-published story'' (Peter Nicholls & John Clute/Encyclopedia of SF, 3rd Edition).
