Tarot pack.
Tarot pack designed by Aleister Crowley and illustrated by Frieda Harris, in gold card box, itself inside another pictorial card box. Frieda Harris was an artist, an occult magician, and, after she met him at age 60, an associate and friend of the author and occultist Aleister Crowley. She is best known for her artistic design of Crowley's Thoth tarot deck and the resulting philosophical input towards its final form. The images of the deck were originally published in 1944 in Crowley's Book of Thoth for a 200-copy limited edition hardcover. Subsequently, the book was mass-published. The cards were, decades later, published as an actual deck of tarot cards. The first actual deck of tarot cards was published in the 1960s as a limited edition monochrome deck (colloquially known as the ''Sangreal One Color Tarot''). That deck is extremely rare. A colour deck was first published circa 1970 by Llewellyn. The first such edition was printed in Hong Kong. The second such edition was printed in the U.S. Later in the 1970s and 1980s, the colour deck was published by Weiser. Subsequently, and to this time, the deck is published by AG Müller and distributed by AG Müller and by U.S. Games''.
A fine set (as issued) but for a liitle dust soiling and rubbing to front of card box, as issued (?) inside a blue velvet bag.
