The second volume of the Foundation series, awarded a special Hugo in 1966 for best all-time series. ''First edition'' stated on copyright page: second binding (Currey B) of red boards lettered in black, publisher's imprint on spine measures 2.8 cm across. With a later/variant dustjacket (Currey B) printed only in blue and black and priced (correctly) $2.75 (the first state dustjacket was printed in four colours). The back panel lists 36 titles, including both SECOND FOUNDATION that came out a year later, and Arthur K. Barnes Interplanetary Hunter, that was issued by Gnome in 1956. So this dustjacket is an even later (unrecorded) variant. See L. W. Currey: SF & Fantasy authors, A Bibliography of First Printings of Their Fiction, p. 17.
Title: Foundation And Empire.
Edition: First edition (& second binding).
Publisher: Gnome Press: NY.: 1952.
