Collection of the author's Anita witch stories: originally published as an Ace paperback in 1970. The title story ''Anita'' was his first published story, together with ''Escapism'', both appearing in the same issue of Science Fantasy (September/October 1964). From the author's own library, with a white printed label signed by Paul McGahon affixed to the front free endpaper, stating/''This book is a personal copy of the author Keith Roberts, part of his effects which I, as co-executor, collected from his flat shortly after his death in October 2000. Paul McGahon, July 2015''.
''he first appeared in Science Fantasy with ''Anita'' (1964), the start of the Anita series about a young female witch, collected as Anita (coll of linked stories 1970 US; with 1 extra story 1990 US). Deliberately humorous, the stories are at times rather cutesy. At this period the appeared regularly in Science Fantasy. He illustrated many of the covers and became Associate Editor when the magazine reconstituted itself as Impulse, being Managing Editor for the final five issues. Some of his early stories blended science and the supernatural'' (Mike Ashley/Encyclopedia of Fantasy).
