Two volumes. SF novel. Published earlier the same year as a Daw paperback original, under the title THE JAWS THAT BITE, THE CLAWS THAT CATCH. The UK hardcover is unsigned, the Daw paperback (NF copy, browning along edges of inner covers) is INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR. Included are two long typed/signed letters from Coney (dated 1973 and 1974) to a well-known UK editor, discussing various bookish things such as Franz Rottensteiner (..''Vector was blabbering about Rottensteiner and his pink protg''..), Chariots of the Gods (..''did orgasm occur or not..?'') and D. G. Compton, and includes/''Daw are bringing out THE GIRL WITH A SYMPHONY IN HER FINGERS under the distressing title of AMONG THE LAND SHARKS next year, but have allowed me my choice of artist and cover scene''. Of course, the title AMONG THE LAND SHARKS never happened.

''a series of stories somewhat reminiscent in their setting of J G Ballard's Vermilion Sands includes several which were amalgamated into The Jaws that Bite, the Claws that Catch (fixup 1975; vt The Girl with a Symphony in her Fingers 1975)'' (Encyclopedia of SF, 3rd Edition).
